We’re trying something a bit different for this episode. Instead of focusing on one movie or show, we are talking about a type of scene in many movies and shows: the diner scene. I got the idea from watching Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories on Netflix. Bridget, Fae, Thad, Kat, and I discuss how we can take this scene and create an interesting storytelling game about it.
In this special double feature episode, we cover two cult classics from the 90s: Bound and Deep Blue Sea. Sci-fi films can be about big ideas, but sometimes that isn’t enough. Infini tries to be about some big ideas but the execution leaves much to be desired. Bridget, Caleb, Fae, Thad, and I discuss the movie and our ideas for mining gaming fodder out of it. Gantz is a hyper violent sci-fi battle royale series popular in Japan. It started as a manga, became an anime, then two live action movies, and now a CGI movie. Gantz: O adapts a story arc deep in the story, appearing over halfway through the main plot. Bridget, Fae, Thad, Richard, and I discuss what we thought of the movie and how it could be turned into a game.
